"The badge really makes a difference. I feel confident that my interpreting is being recognized as a real profession, that the deaf person is being recognized as his/her own decision-maker, and my role is more clearly defined."
Roxanne Skogstad, part time freelance interpreter
"My 'INTERN' badge got me through a lot of doors." Andi Poe, Senior, North Central University
"I especially like my badge when I'm interpreting in a locked unit or ward."

"These ID badges were wonderful for our Interpreting Internship students! When they wore them to observe other interpreters on site, or went to do internship work with a supervising interpreter their role was clear to everyone there. It was very helpful for them to be seen as a protégé with approval to be there in a professional role. It also helped consumers, both deaf and hearing, clearly know their role right away. I wish they had been available for many of our previous interns. The students loved them and all were thrilled to have them.
As for me, it was great to have a badge that clearly defined my role when visiting sites to observe our interns. I had a badge made with my name and degrees and certification and the title "Faculty Supervisor of Interpreter Interns" With security being stepped up in many places this made it a lot easier for people to know and trust my presence."
Barbara Garrett, Chair, Carlstrom Deaf Studies, North Central University
